SCHOLARSHIP POLICIES & PROCEDURES The purpose of Tigard Playschool’s scholarship program is twofold: - To enable new families to join the school who are unable to afford full tuition.
- To assist members who undergo financial hardship in the course of the school year.
We ask that families review their income and expenses before requesting scholarships, making tuition a priority.
Families receiving scholarships are required to make the same contributions of parent helping, fund-raising, committee work, etc., as all other members of the parent cooperative, as detailed in the Parent Agreement to maintain funding. Scholarships come out of Tigard Playschool’s operating income and from savings interest income. The Board determines the total amount available for each year’s scholarship budget the previous spring, when that year’s fundraising effort is complete. Each year we rely on the fundraising efforts of the previous year’s families. The Board does its best to allocate funds for scholarships from the school’s limited budget. Unfortunately, we sometimes cannot give families the full amount they would like. We hope that even limited assistance will help make a difference for our members. Registration fees will be refunded if the scholarship application is denied and the choice is made not to attend Tigard Playschool within two weeks of notification of denial. Please print and complete the two documents above and return to the school at the attention of the Scholarship Committee. Please contact the school with any questions at 503-639-8110. |
