I believe that many people have discovered my love for space, space ships, and science fiction. I had such fun with the dramatic play this year.  The space ships where such fun and the sound effects thanks to Casey Dotson (made them last year) added realism to the area.  The 3’s class had fun making space food (plastic food wrapped in plastic tape), asteroids (aluminum foil made into a ball w/ duck tape taps to attach to the pulley system - thanks Mike for making it work), and many more adventures.  I loved the day I spent in the M/A and Aaron realized that the CD played a launch recording - his eyes lit up and proceeded to describe lunar landings - I loved it!

I had great fun with my alien Orbit puppet.  He speaks in alien gibberish that I can “interpret” and let the children describe their knowledge of their world to a “puppet” that didn’t know what simple things like Macaroni and Cheese.  It was a great time of descriptive language.

The children had great fun putting their space books together and then even more fun taking them home and sharing them with family and friends.  They felt so confident to share a bit of knowledge of their world.
The class had a great time getting ready for St. Patrick’s Day or as we called it Green Day.  The children loved looking for things that were green as they played in the classroom and added them to the green collection table.  I was thankful that I placed green paper on top of the table as Paige informed me the table was actually blue and she was right—that is why I put the green paper on the table—great observations!  We really tried to catch a Leprechaun but once again they got away BUT with a squeal of delight the children found a bag of treasure in their traps—a Twinkie and some Lucky Charms.

The trip to OMSI was so fun.  The children enjoyed seeing the night sky in the Planetarium and most of the class chose to spend the day at OMSI.  It was a great time to explore and have hands on experiences.

The most wonderful thing I want to share about is the sense of community our 3’s class exhibits and I want to thank the many individuals that pull together, care for each other, and support one another that make the class so special and loving.  Thank you all for being community to each other.

That is it for this month.  I look forward to Rainbow Castle as we spring forth into Spring!  Hope you all had a great Spring Break.

May you live long and PLAY together
