3’s Program The 3’s program is designed to give children successful opportunities for developing skills and independence. A strong sense of self is established through a variety of self-selected hands-on activities. The activities include art experiences, science and nature discovery, music, puppets & dance, small and large motor skills, open art media center, writing center, math manipulatives, dramatic play and stories. These daily activities in addition to special activities and events help to enhance the young learners’ self-esteem, confidence and independence. Problem solving skills are developed throughout the day through modeling, open-ended questions and empowerment. Children learn respect for the group process and for the rights of individuals within the group. Mixed-Age Program The mixed-age class provides a comprehensive curriculum for all preschool age groups. Exposure to similar small group activities that the 3’s and Pre-K classes participate in ensures success and challenge for the differing developmental stages. Older children have the opportunity to serve as mentors and take on leadership roles. Younger children are able to accomplish tasks that they could not do without the assistance of the older children. This dynamic increases the level of confidence, independence and competence of both older and younger children alike. All of the children are encouraged to develop a sense of caring and empathy with each other.Pre-K Program The Pre-K program is designed to extend the 4’s program while providing challenging and successful activities to children who are not chronologically or developmentally ready for kindergarten. Projects are expanded and become more in-depth with an emphasis on developing responsibility, problem-solving and task completion. Language development is enhanced through daily library time, journals and bookmaking. The extra activities of the Pre-K program such as math lab using manipulatives, science experiments and discovery, active music and movement, and PE extend the early childhood experience for older preschoolers. Children in this class develop a strong sense of community through empowerment and acceptance of others. They leave with a strong sense of self and an enthusiasm for the learning process. They become competent, well-rounded and capable learners.
